"Downtown Liquefaction" for the Association of Engineering Geologists, San Francisco Section Newsletter
Using Adobe Photoshop, this image combines a wide-angle photo of California Street in San Francisco with sand dunes from Great Sand Dunes National Monument in Colorado (the original photo is in this website!). Keeping them on separate layers, I reversed the sand dune image to get the light source from the same direction as the San Francisco photo. I then added transparent mirror images of the sand dunes in the adjacent windows, added a few more shadow effects and did some color manipulation to make the two images match a little closer.
